  • Develop a hub of important community services in the neighbourhood

2. What are the next steps for the project to move forward?

The Angus Group has an option to purchase the site. To move forward, the next step would be to find organizations that are interested in renting the spaces in the future community centre.

3. What is the project timeline?

We are aiming to begin renovations by the end of 2026. It will take 12 – 18 months to bring everything up to code.

4. What renovations will be done to the building?

The building will be brought entirely up to code to meet strict energy efficiency, sustainability and universal access standards.

5. Will the community centre be entirely accessible?

Yes. We will be adding an elevator to provide access to every floor. Universal accessibility renovations will also include adapted bathrooms and automatic doors.

The building will be acquired and held by a non-profit organization (NPO). Once the spaces have been rented out and the renovations have been completed by the NPO, a collaborative governance model will be put into place. The NPO will also be offering long-term rental agreements with fixed rates to help promote transparency and future planning for the organizations.
